Charlotte Today - Christmas Giveaway Show 2012...
Today, I surprised my mom with tickets to the Charlotte Today Live Christmas Giveaway Show! It was her birthday, and it was a great experience, and great morning that we got to spend together! :)
Made some refrigerator pickles…these were sweet pickles…can’t wait to try dill pickles! ;)
I used Catherine Seibold’s recipe on allrecipes.com. I made a few changes though…they turned out great! This is a wonderful and easy recipe!

Summer raised garden…
So, I’m kind of proud of my raised bed/container garden this summer! I’ve never really had a green thumb…but it’s doing pretty good this summer! I started a few things from seed…they aren’t growing as fast as the plants I purchased, but the summer is young and I still have hope for them! ;)
In my raised bed I have 2 Romano tomatoes and 2 fireball tomatoes (from seed…blooms, no tomatoes yet), 1 beefsteak tomatoes (purchased for $2.50 at Harris Teeter…huge, covered in tomatoes…some will be ready to pick soon), 1 california golden bell pepper (has small peppers, purchased @ the farmers mkt $3), 1 orange bell pepper (has small peppers, purchased from Walmart $2.98), 2 Rolo bell peppers and 1 jalapeño pepper (started from seed, no blooms yet), 1 yellow pepper (Bonnie, Walmart, $2.98 no blooms yet), 13 sweet onions (there were a couple more, but my mom ate them!), 1 black beauty eggplant (from seed, no blooms yet), 1 ichiban eggplant ($4.98, Walmart, Bonnie ….has a baby eggplant!), 1 Boston pickling cucumber (Bonnie, $2.98, Walmart …covered in tiny cucs)
So, that’s all for now…want to plant some carrots, green beans and zucchini…
Baby squash are growing up! I picked my first 2 Saturday…since then, I’ve picked 16…
My new gnome! :) I love HomeGoods!!!
Now I have to decide on a name for him! ;)
I’ve been hoeing around today! It’s a hard job, but somebody has to do it! LOL
Building my raised bed —->garden…this one is 4’x8’ and 12” deep. I may build two of these. I’m going to lay landscaping cloth before I put the wood down and fill it…I wish I could have a huge garden, but for now this will have to do!

First week of Spring and we have been in the 80’s all week…weird weather! Tonight, I noticed there are already lightning bugs in our backyard —-> in MARCH!!!
Is it me, or are our seasons all out of whack?!?
